The Global Tiller began as a pandemic project in April 2020. Little did we know that we will be able to publish 153 issues and have many more in the pipeline for our growing readers across the world.
This week, we were privileged to have been recognised for the contribution this newsletter has made in Oceania, exploring global issues and trends that impact our communities and our future as humanity.
Stars of Oceania 2023 awarded Philippe their Global Moana Media and Technology Award in recognition of the contributions made by The Global Tiller newsletter.
The Stars of Oceania was established in 2006 to recognise and honour those who personify the values of Aloha, Respect, Harmony, Balance, Healing and Spirituality in stewardship of the Great Moana, Humanity, and Natural Kin, via human representatives, with organisations that have contributed to the healing and welfare of our world.
The recipients of the Stars of Oceania Award have been recognised for their distinguished contributions. “…[W]e regard them as role models because they teach others how to serve the world and overcome obstacles. They rise above overwhelming challenges - challenges that require a tenacity of spirit to heal our world from the damage of irresponsible actions that have degenerated Mother Earth and human society. They know how to weave traditional wisdom, culture and spirituality with modern science and technology. They have modelled a tenacity of spirit, and we hope that it will be embraced by you.”
We are deeply humbled by this prestigious recognition of our efforts, and hope to work with this community to exert strength and confidence to face the future, promote well-being, kinship and healing, stewardship with aloha, respectful service. The Stars of Oceania say it better: “It will be our regenerative giving (restoring, or giving back in full measure, what is taken) that can save our planet.”
On this positive note, we would also like to announce that The Global Tiller will be on maternity leave for the next few weeks. To our new readers, we hope that you take this time to explore our past issues. To our loyal readers who have been essential in helping us reach this far in our journey, we hope you take this time to reflect on some of the questions the newsletter has raised. Do write back to us and let us know which topics or trends you’d like us to focus on when we return.
Until then, take care and keep good thoughts!
Hira & Philippe
